Hublicly Speaking: Will Comments that are Racist, Sexist, Prejudice ever end?

Will there be an end to derogatory comments against others?

Over the past few years and especially the past few weeks, there have been some of the most racist and sexist comments that I've heard in a while. It is unbelievable how these stars or public figures that are media celebrities, have said or done something that showed them to not be as open or cool as they once appeared to be.

These figures, many outspoken and quite frank with their words and opinions, have actually crossed the line this time. All through the news there have beeen these statements that are constantly being repeated over and over again.

So, will comments that are racist, sexist, prejudice ever end?

Does anyone recall when Tiger Woods first entered the world of golf mainstream, publicly and open. People were astonished to see a "black man" stepping on the course as well as excelling in the sport. There was a statement made, as I paraphrase, now there will be fried chicken and watermelon on the golf course. How could anyone say or think that? Those two items, are in reference to black americans in a derogatory manner. It is said that the blacks, or as back in the day, them colored folks, sure love chicken, greens and watermelon.

Fuzzy Zoeller, sure said all the wrong things, he even referred to Tiger as that lil' boy. "Boy" was something else that was used to make the black man feel low. It was to make the black man, no matter how old or young to be inferior to the white male, the superior race. Despite saying the fried chicken remark, he had walked away from the interview, but made a point to turn around and add the collard greens in there. Pat Tiger Woods on the back (a reference to when a "negro" has done good or something right was a way to congratulate or let be know their behavior was accepted)? Wasn't that going too far? Wasn't the fried chicken and the lil' boy statement enough? Wasn't that showing that he felt he was on a role and since he was loosing the game, let's degrade this young man personally, how else can I attack him, oh, in reference to his racial background.

What about Don Imus? Not only was Don Imus in the wrong, but the other male that was speaking, it says on the video clip Sid Rosenberg, the first comment made was those are some "hardcore hoes." That was in response to Don Imus' statement of them being "rough" with tattooes and once that person said "hardcore hoes," Don elaborated and emphasized, "Nappy-headed hoes."

D.L. Hughley, a black male even made comments back about these women. Was that fair? Or was D.L. just taking it back? Meaning, was D.L. just taking something negative that a white male said and making it "a funny" that a black male would say about his "sisters?" Either way, it was negative, not a positive thing at all. Nor, was it cute or proper, however, he is a comedian and most things that he either says or do are out of character and conduct of what other stars/people might say or do.

It was unheard of to see blacks partake in certain sports that weren't as physical or didn't require a lot of adrenaline. The stereotype of black/african-americans has been that they are so successful at many sports, but they never could truly handle golf, hockey (Willie O' Ree), ice skating(Richard Ewell)( reason:"they" don't like the cold)  some even thought tennis (two strikes: 1. top black female players, Serena and Venus Williams of present day, past time Althea Gibson and black male Arthur Ashe).

There was a racist radio skit on that characterized a white woman wanting beads for her daughter like the ones that Venus and Serena wore, the sisters, later, even started changing their hair styles. Honestly, they did need to change the hair styling due to it being a bit of a safety issue as the beads were being left on the court after falling out of their hair, due to their power serves.

What about John Mayer? His comments in references to black actresses/starlets Holly Robinson-Peete and Kerry Washington). Saying that his intimate parts were racists, but they were attractive black women. Comparing Jessica Simpson to crack. Is it possible that someone could and would say that? How could he have done that to our ladies? Then saying he didn't want to hurt Jennifer Aniston's feelings by talking like that about Jessica because he felt she would be jealous maybe? Egotistical! (Holly, Kerry and Jessica?) What did they ever do to him for him to go there in that manner?   In fact, back in 2007, wasn't John Mayer all over and wanting to have Alicia Keys sing on his album?  Didn't he sing on her song Lesson Learned?  Wasn't maybe a year or two earlier, he invited to be on the Dave Chappelle show?  Why all of a sudden he is appearing to become racist?  Or where those just his ways of adding credit to his "N"/Black card or his Street Credit?  Was that was he referred to it as?  Didn't he comment against Justin Timberlake too?

Howard Stern, everyone knows, he has something to say about everything and everyone. Why must he comment on Gabourey Sidibe? This gal, took the most difficult role anyone could have taken and made it her own. She had to think or appear to be someone whom went through all these struggles. More than anyone's fair share of struggles to go through. As I am just here, where was Robin? Is Robin still on Howard Stern's show participating in this negativitiy even abuse against 1. a female, 2. a person of her race, 3. a woman of size as she is (Robin is no size 2). Maybe, Robin Quivers, wasn't there that day or just didn't want to deal with it...or didn't want to bite the hand that feeds her, but sometimes we need to have a backbone. I am uncertain, as this is new as of today 3/9/2010, but I hope she did some stand up for this girl. Ironically, Howard would comment on someone else's looks, as his have been the talk and he even has had surgeries to try and lessen his imperfections...imagine that.

Well, to update what I wrote a few moments ago, Robin was there and they (Robin & Howard) on Monday's show, 3/8/10, called Oprah Winfrey a liar for stating Sidibe had a brilliant career ahead of her. Now, how do you like that? Ms. Robin Quivers, not the most beautiful nor saught after women downing another or a couple of other black women in the business. Isn't that something special!

WAIT!! What about Ms. Sidibe? What do I mean by that? She has been asked about and talking about quite a few of the male stars that she has a crush on stating she would, "hit that!" In other words, saying she would become intimate or sexually involved with that person. Isn't that being sexist too? Isn't she stirring up a little trouble with somewhat not so acceptable behavior? Hasn't she crossed the line a bit? For more than one reason, being a female were these things would normally bother us and even being of color, as well as of size, although she has said she is happy with who she is, but wouldn't that make you not want to judge a person, whether positive or not based on their looks? It is positive, consequently, it still holds some negativity, as she is only seeing them as sex objects, lately speaking of Gerard Butler.  [However, she was even a bit offended by being snubbed for the cover of Vanity Fair.  She said she just played it like whatever!  However, it did cross her mind, like why wouldn't they have added me to the cover.  She said that she was happy for the honorable mention in the magazine though.  (on that cover they had a few young stars that have graced the cover more than once, how many times or how long can you be considered up and coming when you have as many credits as some of them have?).]

Yes, Gerard Butler, he's running around being quite frisky to many stars and having his run them and he is on the hot list at this time (hublicly speaking Ms. Gracie, he feels he is not what I would consider gorgeous, more hublicly speaking, another person I don't care for is Daniel Craig in the looks department and Gerard Butler is a step or two above that). More of my opinion, more of maybe not so nice words, yes admitting there is my derogatory views again.

People can have their opinions and views, but hublicly speaking, this was wrong. Honestly, I can admit to and all my major mistakes and choices in my words, including what I said above. I have probably been plain wrong in my opinions and views. I have said these things at the wrong time, even the wrong place (here though maybe not so wrong). In past times, I was not thinking properly, simply expressing my judgement in bad taste, that was my human error.

Things that we say, we can think that won't effect or be harmful to anyone as they truly can be. Not knowing or remembering something about someone and later commenting on it, as an example, if one is multi-racial, they acknowlege it, but mainly identify themselves as one race and then you make a comment against that other race that could in retrospect be offensive to that party. That person could say hey, what are you saying. Remember, I'm part, whatever the race is, I can't believe you said that. I didn't know you were like that!!!

It is quite difficult to remember every detail, but it is important to try and not offend groups of people. We must be cautious with our words. At times, especially people that are in the media, entertainment business, their reasons could be for us (consumers) to spark an interest in them by improving their get ratings. Howard Stern, who has said anything about him positive or negative in about 3 years? Gabby is hot right now. Or could we say, it is raining, but the sun is still shining on Gabby. So why Howard, don't he try to put a dark cloud over her sunny patch? Even though there is lots of rain, Gabby is dry she has her umbrella, how about I (Howard Stern) try to snatch it from her and put it over myself?

Dan Rather on President Obama, unable to sell watermelon with the help of the troopers. Are you kidding me? Dan Rather, was ridiculed a few years back over some comments he made about President Bush. Should this be looked at as Dan not being happy with the leaders of our country?

(Check out his history of this: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A24633-2004Sep15.html)

Or is it more about their political views and standings? Was Dan upset about Bush and how the economy was changing and the taxes? Maybe? Is Dan upset with Obama because of him still not making the changes as quickly as he would have liked? Maybe? Has he offended both? Yes, he has. Has his offense towards Obama been a bit racial? Yes it has. Again, we have the watermelon. Way above, to begin, we were on the Tiger Woods comment, Dan, didn't you learn from that? I know somewhere you had to have done a story on that? That was when you were big and seen every night (I watched you quite often). How could you have displayed that kind of behavior? You have referred to Obama, in my hublicly speaking opinion as a weak black man that couldn't even sell something that he eats/likes/love that should come so natural to him. If you didn't get that, that is what I got out of his statements. He tried to smooth the comments over by saying something nice about Obama, but he was just warming us up for the kill... the gut puncher! BAM! Let me make this into a stereotype! Done in poor judgment Dan, not away to return to major T.V. After loosing your show, being replaced by a woman (Katie Couric), way to go Dan! No, you are not Dan the man, again, placing comments out there that may or may not be true, as you did stand by what you said about Bush, but felt the network didn't back you up. Well, things might have been true about Bush, but I know CBS, is greatful that they made the decision to replace you as you have now labeled your self a little prejudice.

No matter what, negativity lives within many of us. Although, we shouldn't think to be sexist, racist or hateful toward another. This still will happen and occur. Unfortunately, it is a cycle, that maybe we can lessen the effects of it, but know it is still out there. Daily, there will be something done or said for attention to be brought upon oneself. Again, as we know, the entertainment world, radio personalities might not want to be thought of as stars, as they could claim, but, they truly are a celebrity. May not be a star as a singer, actor/tress, painter, writer, but you are a celebrity local, national, international. You have a fan base that follows you. If you feel it dwindling? You want to maintain, Why not create some chaos. Good things you do will bring attention, but it will never last as long as the bad does.

Therefore, negative comments, being "haters" will not end. This has become the livelihood of the world. This is how we get and keep attention, Don Imus, went back on radio with bigger better deal, Howard Stern he became bigger from his pass, with movie, books about his life, now, maybe people who agree about Gabby being enormous and her career is over before it begain, will become his fans, but in the end, it was all about Howard, or Zoeller, or Imus, drawing attention to themselves. The unhappiness within him, due to the falling success or lack of it, is why they will criticize someone that is being positive.

Hublicly speaking, we are all guilty of this crime at one time or another. So, will you make a change to not dwell in this, or will you just keep it up?  Unfortunately, it will probably continue..
