How to de-bulk from a recovering shop-aholics get rid of all that stuff

By

All these sprays need to get rid of scents I no longer wear! What should I do?

Hey there, I'm Msgracie, a recovering shop-aholic! Well, I have so many fragrances that I have either purchased or received as gifts over the years. However, at this point and time, I am only into wearing certain items and things. If you see all the fragrances that I have, whether the price ranges from $1-$100 value items, I do own it. Especially, the body sprays. It is still the craze, but being from the local area of where Bath and Body Works was started, I have many products from there and Victoria's Secret stores, as well as being a former Avon Representative and a worker in the downtown area, where there was access to Macy's that would have crazy deals of four to six piece fragrance sets of at only $50.00, but the set is valued at $100.00, it would include: regular size spray, purse size spray, lotion, body spray/mist and whatever other item (Free purse, bag, hat, travel size gift set!) they wanted to throw in there that make me BUY! BUY! BUY!

Now, has come the time to get rid of all those fragrances! Due to my sinuses and just me no longer enjoying some of the smells of the fragrances, it is time for them to go! Even the ones that I still enjoy the scent, I am thinking of letting go, it is just too much stuff! Plus, I have duplicates of fragrances so these things need to GO! GO! GO! It all must GO!

Well, many would first think, Sell it! Unfortunately, I've been trying and that has not been as successful as I would like, especially with the Avon products. People want the products, just not for the prices, which are even reasonable ($1-5!). Well, there are some other solutions that may not be profitable, but could be beneficial and so it smells good to me! :) (Did ya'll get that? Ok, well moving on, here are some solutions that I've come up with.

1. If it is something you paid a nice price for, go ahead, try for the selling, not used, go for it! But note, you may not make anything near the value of it, just go for getting a couple bucks out of it. Yard Sales, flea market, consignment, even go for friends, family or co-workers to try and sell it to, just see what happens.

2. Re-Gift, Again Unused, unsuccessful at selling? Give it as a gift. Many might think of it as re-gifting in a way, possibly, especially if it was given to you, but honestly, with these times, I don't feel that that should be a major deal. I am a sentimental person and at times, it is hard for me to part with items that were gifts, but if you are not at all, go for it! I honestly, don't see the harm in it as a gift for someone that could utilize it since you're not, it is a wonderful thing. (If it is a re-gift, meaning, something that was given to you, but you never used it, make certain that when you give it away, that it's not back to the person whom gave it to you! Or if you did buy it for yourself, make sure that the person who receive's the gift wasn't your shopping buddy on the day you purchased it, YIKES! YIKES!) Another thought, think of it like this: Has someone given you a gift card and you've used it to be beneficial to someone else? Why can't we think of it in those terms when it is an actual item purchased for us? Let's say, you are given a gift card to Target, do you always buy just for you and/or your family? What if you buy a CD for your daugther's best friend's birthday, isn't that a form of re-gifting? Something that was meant for you, now being used for the purpose of giving a gift to someone else? If you think on that perspective, I do not see the harm in you giving a specific item as a re-gift.

3. Give it to a relative/friend/co-worker, as long it is not someone that would take it as charity or would become offended by it, just give it away! Again, many people would appreciate it! Especially, a younger one, like a niece or little cousin or even a friend's child probably would love to have it. ( I remember when I was a young teen, an aunt gave me a fragrance of hers, I really did love it! It was slightly used by her, she just wanted me to have it since I seemed to it like so much!)

4. Give it to a thrift store. It could possibly be apart of a tax write off, once you get a slip from that store, just box up any and all things, like your clothes too, etc... and give it there. (Thrift stores, do take all items (used fragrances/lotions) and will put a price on them, I've seen fragrances in there, if you haven't I have many times! Unbelievable, I didn't buy it, thought it was pricey for me, for thrifting, but J-Lo's Still was in there for $14!)

5. If the smell is nice for you and doesn't bother your sinuses or allergies, use it as an air scent. I know, many may say what? Many of them I use around the house, you could even use it in your car or take it to work... for those moments...you know what I mean...freshening up times....I will leave it at that! ( you had onions today, lol) However, it is great for the room nice pleasant scent that makes you feel good!

6. The simplest, less creative, but typical thing to do, is throw it away! I know it might be hard for the shop-aholics and those that don't like wasting money, but this is something you could do and that would just rid you and others of it.

Well, I hope my tips, advice, suggestions were helpful to you. This is a way to keep things going! These are ways to move on and a new form of recycling you could think of it as by giving it to someone else that could use it or if you are unsuccessful at making a few dollars from it, why not?!
